I work on the literature and intellectual history of Britain and the Caribbean in the twentieth century. I am interested in comparative literature, critical theory, linguistics, and literary form. My first book, V.S. Naipaul, Caribbean Writing, and Caribbean Thoughtwas published by OUP in 2020.
At the moment, I'm working on two projects. I'm writing a short book about the British writer Penelope Fitzgerald (1916-2000), and beginning a project about Caribbean poetry and poetics, centring on Una Marson, Derek Walcott, Kamau Brathwaite, and NourbeSe Philip.
